Baby Vaccination & Cost

Every Singapore child has a health book and there are two pages of records to be filled, namely Immunisation Record of National Childhood Vaccinations.

(1) Micah had the first vaccination on September 4, 2012 , one day after he was born, which was BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin) vaccine. This vaccination is against Tuberculosis, procedure done at Thomson Medical Centre.

(2) He had the second vaccination on September 5, 2012. That's the 1st dose of Hepatitis B (e.g. Engerix, Infanrix-Hexa) vaccine. This vaccination is against Hepatitis B, procedure done at Thomson Medical Centre. There are total 3 doses required for Hep B.

(3) Micah had third vaccination on October 29, 2012. That's the 2nd dose of Hepatitis B +  1st dose of Diptheria Pertussis, Tetanus (e.g. DTap, Infanrix, Infanrix-Hexa, Infanrix-Hib, Infanrix-IPV+Hib) + 1st dose of Polio (e.g. Polio Sabin, Infanrix, Infanrix Hexa). They called it "6-in-1" vaccination. Furthermore, Micah had the oral vaccine against Rotavirus (e.g. Rotarix, Rotateq). Both of the procedure were done at Kidslink Children Clinic at Jurong East.

- Dr. Heng Joo Teck was pretty good at the procedure, at least Micah only cried for less than 8 seconds when he had the "6-in-1" vaccination. Oral vaccine was a breeze, Micah loves it and drank them all. :)

"6-in-1" Vaccination - we chose gsk brand.

(batch number for records)

Oral vaccine against Rotavirus. Doctor said it tastes sweet and baby loves them all. Sometimes baby will cry for more.

Sometimes baby will catch fever after vaccination, medicine is required for temperature above 37.5 C. Micah didn't drink it. He is free from fever.

Micah is contented. :)

Below are the cost breakdown after the baby was born. It included mummy 2 return visits to Gynea. So far, we only brought Micah to see paediatician. It is quite convenient for us especially there is one branch at Jurong East. Just 2 months, the medical bill is S$756.65. I can't wait to cross over year 2003 then I can claim another S$1,000 for my baby medical bills from my company. :)
