Singaporean Kid Medical Bill

This is a typical bill for Singaporean kid from born until age 6+.

We separate out the first year charges as it includes the delivery charges and all sort of vaccination costs.

From age 1 to age 6, I spent a total cash of S$382.17, that's S$63.70 per year, very affordable for GP medical & dental. Nevertheless, do take note, the company/insurance claim up to S$6,096.36.

This is the benefit of employment, as you can enjoy the benefit of medical claim from the company.

My previous company can enjoy full claim but the current one only up to 80% claim. In some companies, they don't even allow to claim kid medical cost !

Year 2018 - Micah Medical Bill (6 years old+)

In summary, year 2018, Micah total medical bill was S$782.85 (total 11x doctor visits and 2x dentist visits).

S$782.85 = S$119.55 (dental fees) + S$663.30 (doctor fees).

S$626.28 paid by my company.
S$156.57 in cash.

In short, we paid S$156.57 cash for Micah medical bill and S$0 cash for ourselves in year 2018.

Year 2016 - Micah Medical Bill (4 years old+)

In summary, year 2016, Micah total medical bill was S$1,350.51.

S$874.41 paid by my company.
S$111.20 paid by my wife company.
S$337.10 paid by the travel insurance.

Micah had his first dental check up at GPA Dental Group. The experience was fantastic and it was a big bill of S$174.41 for a good 20 minutes visit. This is part of the total claim of S$874.41.

In short, we paid S$27.80 cash for Micah medical bill and S$0 cash for ourselves in year 2016.

I have joined a new company in year 2017. Only the first 5 claims of my own personal GP medical bill will be 100% claimable. The rest of the bill, including the dental, health check up, child medical bill are all 80% claimable. My wife company allows 100% claimable bill for the child if we go for GP. If we choose paediatrician, her company allows 80% claimable.

It means we have to pay 20% for Micah medical bill from now onwards (if we continue to visit paediatrician). Oh well!
I expect the medical bill (payable in cash) of our household will rise to S$200-S$300 range per year from S$0 per year previously.

Another one transaction after I left my company on October 31st, 2016. That can only be 80% claimable from my wife company.

24/Nov/2016 @ Anne's Baby and Child Clinic :
Singular S$26 ; Flumucil S$21 ; Curam x 2 (antibiotic) S$52 , total cost : S$139.

80% claimed allowed : S$111.20
20% : S$27.80

Total medical cost (year 2016): S$1,211.51 + S$139 = S$1,350.51

Year 2015 - Micah Medical Bill (3 years old+)

Another great year is coming to the end.

In summary, year 2015, Micah total medical bill was S$813.

S$813 was paid by my company. With 3 doctor visits ourselves, I still have a balance of S$16 unclaimed. :)

In short, we paid S$0 cash for Micah medical bill and S$0 for ourselves too in year 2015.

Micah had completed ALL the vaccination. The next one will be at Primary 1 and Primary 6.

May year 2016 be a good healthy year again for our family.

Year 2014 - Micah Medical Bill (2 years old+)

Time flies in a blink of an eye! One year just passed !

In summary, year 2014 baby Micah total medical bill was S$1,285.

S$868 was paid by my company. S$417 was reimbursed from Tokio Marine travel insurance.

In short, we paid S$0 cash for Micah medical bill out from our pocket in year 2014. Nice!

Micah medical cost shall be significantly lower in the subsequent years because he completed almost all the vaccinations in Singapore.

So long we are employed, our family medical costs shall be fully covered/reimbursed. This really help to erase the burdens of the high medical cost in Singapore!

Thanks goodness that my company gives S$1,000 medical allowance for the entire family, INCLUDING baby vaccination cost (not many companies allow to claim vaccination cost). That is why we bring him to visit private paediatrician (it is FREE, why not?) instead of general medical doctor or public hospital.

By the way, Karen company provides UNLIMITED claims for medical cost for the entire family too and that includes dental cost!

How much you spend on milk powder ?

My little boy drinks Enfagrow milk powder.

I pay RM 100 for Enfa Stage 3 at Johor. He can finish 1 tin (1.7 KG) of milk within 14 days.
He drinks milk four times a day. So, each bottle of milk (240ml) costs RM 1.79 = S$0.71.

So one day baby milk consumption cost is S$2.85. (still OK la).
One year, baby milk consumption cost is RM 2,607 = S$1,043

If you buy this milk power in Singapore, 1 tin is 1.8 KG instead, selling SGD 80.
Prorated to 1.7KG, it will be S$75.55 = RM 189. So, it is 89% more expensive in Singapore.

It is worth to mention Enfa milk in Singapore is manufactured in Netherlands.
Enfa milk in Malaysia is manufactured in Thailand.

Just recently, they have NEW packaging for the milk powder and I notice that the price starts to inch up.

Usual Price is RM 121.50.

I got the promotion price of RM 115.

It seems like there is a price increment of 15% of what I have purchased previously.

Then, Singapore price (RM189) is about 64% more expensive than Malaysia "only".
